PRIVACY POLICY

Your movement data stays on your devices.

Summary

StepNow is a free step-counting and focused-walk app from NanoHits for iPhone and Apple Watch. It uses movement information you choose to make available through Motion and Fitness and Apple Health. NanoHits does not receive or operate a server-side profile of your step, workout, or health history.

Information used by the app

With your permission, StepNow may read compatible movement and Apple Health information including step count, walking and running distance, active energy, walking heart rate, and workout information needed for focused walks. Apple Watch may collect session steps, distance, pace, cadence, elapsed time, and heart rate while a focused walk is active.

You control Motion and Fitness and Apple Health permissions and can change them in iOS Settings, the Health app, or Watch settings. StepNow's iPhone app does not write step samples to Apple Health. An Apple Watch workout may be saved through Apple's workout APIs when you complete a Watch-based walk.

On-device processing and storage

Daily counts, goals, settings, measurement freshness, completed walk history, and unfinished walk recovery information are calculated and stored on your devices using Apple platform storage. Information may be shared between StepNow's iPhone app, Apple Watch companion, widgets, and Live Activities through Apple-provided App Group, WatchConnectivity, HealthKit, and ActivityKit mechanisms.

StepNow does not include advertising SDKs or external analytics SDKs. NanoHits does not operate a cloud database containing StepNow movement or health history.

Widgets, Live Activities, and notifications

If you use widgets or Live Activities, the latest trusted step or active-walk state is made available to those system surfaces on your device. Optional milestone, afternoon, and evening reminders are scheduled using Apple's notification system. These features do not upload your movement history to NanoHits.

Data retention and deletion

StepNow settings and walk history remain on your devices until you delete them using StepNow's privacy and data controls or remove the app. You can delete saved walk history separately or reset StepNow's local data. Apple Health records are controlled separately in Apple's Health app and device settings.

Website and contact information

You can browse the StepNow website without creating an account. If you voluntarily use the beta and support form, NanoHits receives the name, reply email address, selected topic, and message you provide. This information is used only to respond to your request, coordinate beta access, maintain relevant support history, and prevent abuse.

Contact messages are delivered through NanoHits' server-side mail provider. Recipient email addresses are not published in the website source. Messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed for these purposes and applicable legal obligations. You may request deletion of a support conversation through the same contact form.

Cloudflare Turnstile

The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce automated abuse. When the form loads or is submitted, Cloudflare may process technical information necessary to provide the security check, such as IP address, browser and device characteristics, and challenge results. NanoHits validates each Turnstile token on the server before accepting a message. Cloudflare acts under its own privacy policy. The StepNow iPhone and Apple Watch apps do not use Turnstile.

Server logs and security

The website server records limited request logs needed for security, reliability, rate limiting, and abuse prevention. NanoHits does not sell personal information. Please do not submit passwords, detailed health records, or other sensitive information through the contact form.

Children

StepNow is not directed to children under 13. NanoHits does not knowingly collect children's personal information through the app or website.

Your choices and contact

You can stop StepNow's access to Motion and Fitness or Apple Health data at any time, remove locally stored app data, disable optional reminders and system surfaces, or contact NanoHits about website support information through the StepNow contact form.

Changes

This policy may be updated as StepNow, Apple platform behavior, or applicable requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
