01 Source

Apple Watch data from Health

HeartStory reads heart-related data already stored in Apple Health. It does not measure with the iPhone camera.

02 Context

Your history, not population targets

Personal ranges describe your own available history. They are not medical normal ranges.

03 Method

Evidence behind every observation

Review the dates, values, sources, included days, and calculation method.

04 Privacy

Health analysis stays on device

No health-data upload, third-party analytics SDK, advertising profile, or HeartStory account.

02 One record, five useful views

From today’s readings to patterns across time.

HeartStory organizes what Apple Watch recorded without pretending sparse samples are a continuous signal.

Compare today with yesterday or with your own recent range. Every observation includes a receipt that explains the values, periods, sources, exclusions, and method.

  • No opaque stress or readiness score
  • Confidence describes data quality—not medical certainty
  • Raw values remain visible when an interpretation is suppressed

04 How data arrives

Apple Watch records. Health stores. HeartStory explains.

HeartStory is an interpretation layer for authorized data already in Apple Health. Background updates can be delayed by watch sync, battery, connectivity, and system scheduling.

  1. 01

    Wear Apple Watch normally

Apple Watch records supported heart-related samples through normal system behavior.

  2. 02

    Apple Health stores the data

HealthKit remains the system of record. HeartStory requests only the access needed for shipped features.

  3. 03

    HeartStory imports updates

The app shows cached information quickly, reconciles changes, and displays freshness and source details.

  4. 04

    Analysis runs locally

Deterministic calculations create personal ranges, trends, and explainable observations on your device.

Latest ≠ live

The newest passive reading may be several minutes old. HeartStory never presents passive Apple Watch history as continuous or live monitoring.

05 Private by design

Your health story stays yours.

HeartStory reads authorized Apple Health data and performs its analysis on your iPhone. Health information is not sent to a HeartStory server.

08 Questions, answered plainly

Before you join the list.

Does HeartStory measure my heart rate?

HeartStory does not use the iPhone camera or claim to measure continuously. It organizes and explains compatible heart-related data recorded by Apple Watch and available in Apple Health. A deliberate Active Session on Apple Watch can record a visible workout session.

Is HeartStory a medical app?

No. HeartStory is for general wellness and informational use. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose or treat a condition, and is not an emergency service. If you have concerning symptoms, contact emergency services or seek appropriate medical care.

Why might the latest reading be old?

Passive updates are not instant. Timing can vary with Apple Watch recording behavior, Health synchronization, battery, connectivity, system scheduling, and Health access. HeartStory shows the source, timestamp, and freshness rather than calling passive data live.

Does my health data leave my device?

No HeartStory server receives your health information. Authorized Apple Health data is analyzed locally. The launch and contact forms on this website will send only the information you type into those forms once the mail service is configured.

Do I need a subscription?

No. HeartStory has a permanent Free plan. HeartStory Lifetime is an optional US$9.99 one-time non-consumable purchase, localized by the App Store, with Family Sharing.

Which devices do I need?

HeartStory’s primary experience runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Meaningful use requires compatible heart data recorded by Apple Watch and readable through Apple Health. A native watchOS companion is included.
